John S. Caskey, MD
Internal Medicine
I am board certified in general internal medicine. I graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1997, and subsequently trained in internal medicine at New York University Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital Center. I practiced in New York City in private practice, and as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences Center for 6 years before moving to beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2006.
I worked as a hospitalist at St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico before opening my private practice, John S. Caskey, M.D. LLC in 2007. I provide general internal medicine, primary care medicine, integrative medicine (combining alternative medicine approaches with allopathic medicine), hospitalist services, and medical acupuncture.
As an integrative medical practitioner, I am skilled in combining Western and alternative medicine practices for the treatment of allopathic medical conditions. I work with interested clients in how best to use alternative medical modalities, and refers to an array of high quality alternative medicine practitioners. I trained in integrative medicine at the Center for Health and Healing at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City (2005-2006) and received training in acupuncture from Xi’an Medical University in Xi’an, China (1997) as well as under American leaders in the field of acupuncture. I established and directed an acupuncture service for the Veterans Administration-New York Harbor Healthcare System-Brooklyn Campus (Brooklyn VA Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York) for five years (2001-2006). I have also consulted for hospitals regarding their credentialing protocols for acupuncture and medical acupuncture services.
I have served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine in Santa Fe (2010-2011) and as a member of the Medical Executive Committee. I also served on the Quality Management Committee at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center (2009-2010). I have received a Patients’ Choice Award for Internal Medicine every year since 2008, and I am a member of the American College of Physicians and the New Mexico Medical Society.
It gives me great pride when I can provide high quality, client centered care. This is my aim.
